I just performed a PCmover migration, but I can't find some of my programs, where are they?
Programs are installed differently on 32-bit versions of Windows than they are on 64-bit versions. Also, it is possible to install 32-bit versions of programs on 64-bit versions of Windows, but not vice-versa. As such, if you migrate from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, you will find that there are two (2) locations where programs will be copy to in the new PC:
Location on 32-bit Windows | Location on 64-bit Windows | |
32-bit Programs | C:\Program Files |
C:\Program Files (x86) |
64-bit Programs | N/A | C:\Program Files |
To clarify the above table, the left-most column signifies the bit version of the programs, and the next two columns give the location of where those programs can be found, based on the bit-version of Windows.
✅ NOTE: 64-bit programs cannot be installed on a 32-bit version of Windows, that is why N/A (Not Applicable) is written in that cell.
